What is Physiotherapy?
- Physiotherapy encompasses a thorough initial assessment of each client; allowing the client to outline their problem, associated symptoms, medical history, and ask any questions they have about their problem. The physiotherapist will then perform an objective physical exam noting range of motion, strength, and what limitations exist within the neuromusculoskeletal system. Follow up visits allow the physiotherapist to use outcome measures which are tools that help determine if the treatment plan is helping and if the client is making progress.
- Treatment plans can involve a variety of options such as manual therapy, acupuncture, modalities but must always involve proper education and exercise in helping an individual move and feel their best. An effective treatment plan should address the main issues that are holding the client back from achieving their goals. Proactive education given by the therapist can ensure the client is able to navigate the recovery process effectively. Physiotherapists are regulated health care providers; meaning they must uphold standards of practice within their profession and must adhere to these standards while helping clients achieve their individualized goals.
- Registered Physiotherapists in Canada have a 4 year undergraduate degree along with a 2 year master’s degree.

“Due to my active lifestyle I have had numerous injuries ranging from minor to serious. The treatment at Right Move Physiotherapy has been the most beneficial, personalized and knowledgeable care that I have ever received. I have been receiving shockwave treatment as part of my physiotherapy care plan and have found significant relief following my sessions. I have worked with all three health care professionals and each has helped me regain the confidence and strength I needed to get back to my athletic goals!”
“I have been managing myofascial pain for a few years and have been treated by multiple physiotherapists and other health care service providers in Kingston. Ian Budge took a slightly different approach with my physiotherapy plan, which has provided me with the best results in correcting the root cause, putting me on the road to recovery and regaining the athletic confidence I had lost. I have tried several different trigger point treatments (including lidocaine), but Ian’s dry needling has been the most effective by far and I find myself actually looking forward to it! ”
